What Is Tautopathy?

In my homeopathic practice, working with children with ASD, I realise that I discuss this homeopathic term more than any other, many times a week and to many different parents!! It’s one of the most valuable tools in prescribing for complex cases and in particular for children with Autism. So what does it mean and how can it help your child?

Tautopathy is a branch of homeopathy that involves using a potentised (diluted and succussed) version of a substance that has caused harm or imbalance in the body to help clear its energetic imprint. The idea is similar to the broader homeopathic principle of "like cures like" — but specifically, it uses the exact substance that may have contributed to the problem in the first place. All remedies are made in Homeopathic pharmacies that follow strict pharmacopoeia guidelines as any other pharmacy! (I worked at Helios Homeopathic Pharmacy in London UK for 11 years!)

How It Works:

Tautopathy is based on the concept that certain substances — including vaccines, medications, or toxins — can leave behind an energetic disturbance in sensitive individuals. By giving that same substance in a highly diluted, energetic form (e.g., MMR 30C, 200C, 1M, etc.), the body is gently encouraged to release or process the effects of the original exposure.

Rather than detoxing in the biochemical sense, the remedy is thought to "remind" the vital force how to resolve or clear the disturbance.

Why Potentised Vaccines Are Considered Safe:

1. Diluted Beyond Material Dose: These remedies are made through serial dilution and succussion (shaking), typically far beyond Avogadro's number. This means there are no physical molecules of the original substance left — only the energetic signature remains.

2. Non-toxic: Since no actual vaccine material remains, they cannot cause toxicity, allergic reactions, or infection.

3. Energetic Support Only: The remedy works on an energetic level, to stimulate the body’s healing response to the original insult without reintroducing the actual substance.

4. Individualised and Controlled Use: Homeopaths carefully select the potency and timing of tautopathic remedies based on the person’s specific history and reactions. They’re typically introduced gradually, often starting at lower potencies (e.g., 30C) and moving up to higher ones (e.g., 200C, 1M or 10M), while observing the response.

Use in Vaccine Injury:

In cases where a child or adult has shown regression, inflammation, or chronic symptoms following a vaccine, homeopaths may use the tautopathic version of that vaccine (e.g., DTaP, MMR, or HepB) to help clear the residual energetic disturbance. This is usually done alongside constitutional remedies and supports like drainage or organ support remedies, especially in sensitive or complex cases.

Clinical Use and Caution:

Tautopathy is used only after careful case-taking, to rule out other causes and determine the individual’s response pattern. Therefore not advisable to do this without a homeopathic practitioner to guide you.

It’s often used in tandem with constitutional treatment to strengthen the system and support long-term healing.

Aggravations (temporary symptom flare-ups) may occur as the body processes the resolution and these are monitored closely.
